Justice or Mercy? Pastor Justin Miles

Wednesday Night

Psalm 119:145-152

This section is subtitled “Quaff”, from the Hebrew alphabet

Eternally Faithful

v. 145 The Psalmist cries in the midst of his circumstances

v. 146 Save me and I will keep your laws

v. 147 I rise early and cry; all my hope is in your word

v. 148 I meditate on your promises even through the night

v. 149 Preserve me according to your laws – in the Old Testament they were always wanting “justice” because they had no way to get justice. In the New Testament they (we) are always seeking “mercy” – we know what the result of our getting “justice” would mean

v. 150 The wicked schemers around me don’t care about your law

v. 151 The Lord is near, and His commands are true – We have the Holy Spirit within us; David didn’t have this advantage

v. 152 he acknowledges that God created his laws to be eternal – we need to understand!
